Adeptus Solution's is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist who is responsible for ensuring software quality through independent testing, defect identification, release readiness validation, and strategic test automation.
The primary responsibility of this role is to identify defects, workflow failures, integration issues, data inconsistencies, and quality risks before functionality reaches customers. This position requires independent analysis of requirements, business processes, and system behavior to ensure software meets functional and operational expectations.
This role is not limited to executing test cases. The successful candidate is expected to independently learn new systems and business processes, identify testing scenarios, perform exploratory testing, validate end-to-end workflows, assess release readiness, maintain testing documentation in Azure DevOps (ADO), and contribute to automation initiatives that improve software quality and testing efficiency.
Success in this role is measured by the ability to identify and prevent issues before customer discovery while maintaining an effective balance between manual and automated testing.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Testing
· Review requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, and system documentation.
· Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
· Validate complete business processes and workflows.
· Execute positive, negative, boundary, exception, and edge-case testing.
· Identify defects, workflow failures, usability concerns, integration issues, and data inconsistencies.
· Validate defect fixes and perform retesting.
· Assess release readiness and provide quality recommendations.
· Support sprint reviews, Functional Assessments, demonstrations, and production validation activities.
Quality Ownership
· Serve as the primary advocate for software quality.
· Identify defects and risks before customer review or release.
· Independently determine testing scenarios and validation approaches.
· Investigate unexpected system behavior and quality concerns.
· Analyze previous defects and apply lessons learned to future testing efforts.
· Communicate quality risks, blockers, and release concerns proactively.
Azure DevOps (ADO)
· Maintain testing activities, execution results, defects, and supporting evidence in ADO.
· Ensure ADO serves as the official system of record for QA activities.
· Maintain traceability between requirements, testing activities, and defects.
· Provide accurate testing status and quality reporting.
Automation Responsibilities
Required Automation Experience
The Quality Assurance Specialist must demonstrate hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks and be capable of independently designing, developing, maintaining, and executing automated test solutions.
Responsibilities include:
· Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites.
· Build and maintain automated smoke testing for critical functionality.
· Build and maintain automated regression testing where automation provides measurable value.
· Expand automation coverage for repeatable and high-risk workflows.
· Troubleshoot and maintain automated test scripts.
· Integrate automation into release-readiness and regression-testing activities.
· Evaluate and recommend automation tools and frameworks that support program objectives.
The organization currently utilizes Cypress; however, candidates must be capable of adapting to alternative automation frameworks as technology and project requirements evolve.
The goal is to maximize valuable automation while maintaining effective exploratory, investigative, business-process, and end-to-end testing.
Independence & Accountability
This position requires a self-directed professional capable of:
· Learning new systems, business processes, and customer environments independently.
· Performing QA responsibilities with minimal supervision.
· Identifying testing scenarios without routine direction from Business Analysts.
· Maintaining productivity when peers or team members are unavailable.
· Taking ownership of assigned work from planning through completion.
· Proactively communicating risks, blockers, and quality concerns.
Business Analysts may provide requirements clarification when necessary but are not responsible for identifying routine testing scenarios, performing QA analysis, managing QA deliverables, or supplementing core QA responsibilities.
Routine dependency on Business Analysts, developers, peers, or management to perform fundamental QA responsibilities is not considered satisfactory performance.

· Experience using Azure DevOps for test management and defect tracking.
· Experience supporting Agile software development teams.
· Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and business processes quickly and independently.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience supporting cloud-hosted applications.
· Experience supporting Federal or DoD programs.
· Experience working within CI/CD pipelines.
· Experience with automated deployment validation.
· Security+ certification.
· Experience supporting distributed Agile teams.
