Adeptus Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer to support enterprise IT operations for a federal client in Washington, DC. This role supports a hybrid environment (on-premises and Microsoft Azure) and focuses on system reliability, security compliance, and infrastructure modernization.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain on-premises and cloud-based IT systems
• Manage Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Azure AD), including MFA and Conditional Access
• Support Windows and Linux servers, virtualization, and networking
• Implement and maintain security baselines, STIGs, and compliance controls
• Perform patch management, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening
• Assist with disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation
• Provide technical recommendations to IT leadership
• Document system configurations, procedures, and standard operating practices

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of recent, continuous experience in IT systems engineering or administration
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365
• Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux systems administration
• Understanding of federal IT compliance frameworks (FISMA, NIST)
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft or Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect)
• Experience with VMware and hybrid cloud environments
• PowerShell or other scripting experience
